M vs Microsoft: Episode 12

Let Emotional AI Quantify What’s Inside Of Love

What happened to her?

She and her ex-husband had been married for ten years but divorced after she found out her husband cheated on her. Although she was still in love with her ex-husband, she could not tolerate her husband’s cheating.

Unexpectedly, on the first Valentine’s day since the divorce, they met in the restaurant. She was excited at the moment she saw him, but all the anger and disgust came up her throat after when her ex-husband kissed his new girlfriend in front of her.

She bit her lip hard and held her hands tightly to calm herself down in order to be civil to the man she loved and hated.

What is love?

The definition of love is different to everyone, and sometimes people don’t even know their own answers. Emotional AI, M, however, is trained to answer this question. How would M and Microsoft Azure analyze the person’s complicated love at this moment?

In contrast to Microsoft, M gives a more comprehensive and accurate analysis of the person’s complex emotional states. M successfully captured the person’s initial excitement and happiness when she saw her ex-husband and the subsequent negative feelings. Microsoft, instead, fails to identify the negative emotions.

*As of May 2019, the Project M team has devoted 60,000 hours to the AI platform, M. The sample input data we are using is the pure testing data that is completely new to M and Microsoft (assumed) and is never been used to train M, so this comparison is a fair trial between M and Microsoft. We appreciate Microsoft, the leader of the industry and emotional AI sector, for allowing the general public to test their testing site for identifying human emotions based on facial expressions.
